Dr. Bree Montana, DVM
Dr. Montana graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Science degree focused in the field of Biology followed by a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation from veterinary medical school, Dr. Montana worked exclusively in small animal outpatient and emergency hospitals while pursuing additional medical training in the latest technologies. Dr Montana has advanced training in ultrasonography, echocardiography, chemotherapy, dentistry, emergency medicine and surgery, transfusion medicine, class IV laser therapy, pain management and rehabilitation. A past member of UC Davis’ College of Veterinary Medicine’s External Advisory and Admissions Boards, and a past Board member of the VINFoundation, Dr Montana is the Director of the VINFoundation’s Vets4Vets programs. When not practicing medicine, Dr Montana will generally be found playing with her daughter Ember and their ponies, hiking with her huskies, and skiing or snowboarding with her husband Bill West. Navigating the wilderness of medical diagnostics and therapies can be a daunting challenge. Kristie, BS, RVT
Technical Lead-Licensed Veterinary Technician
Kristie, originally from the Seacoast of New Hampshire, moved to Truckee in 2011. With a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science focused on Pre-Vet Medicine from the University of Vermont, Kristie recently completed her Veterinary Technician program & is now a licensed Veterinary Technician. When away from work, Kristie can be found hanging out with her two McNabb mixes, Opi & Tio, her Husky, Luka, and her cat, Cloud Paw!
Meghan, BA, RVT
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Originally from the Bay Area, Meghan grew up spending summers visiting the Tahoe area with her family. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Oregon before moving to rural Oregon where she spent two years working with cattle. Meghan is a Licensed Veterinary Technician and has recently found a passion for hospital management & veterinary dentistry. Meghan & her husband, Aaron, run the Truckee River Raft Company, and share their lives with a couple of cats (Nani & Devastator), an awesome one eyed chihuahua (Mr. Milton Berle), and two extremely active, extremely cute, extremely black and white border collies (Bullitt & Stark)!
Cultural Lead-Veterinary Assistant
Courtenay grew up in Spring Creek, Nevada where she was surrounded by dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, & sheep! She began studying all-things-equine at the ripe age of six through the United States Pony Club and has been nationally tested to achieve her "HB" certification. Sticking to her Nevada roots, she earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology and an Associate's degree in Business Administration from the University of Nevada, Reno. After a few years working in the veterinary field, Courtenay plans on pursuing further education in Animal Nutrition. When she is not studying or working, Courtenay spends time with her horse Muzee, her cat Gimli, and explores the mountains with her loyal German Shepherd, Koa.
Originally from the Bay Area, Amber decided to move up to Tahoe in 2015. She grew up with an extreme passion for animals; volunteering at her local animal shelter where she learned how to work with and handle canines, and she has always been interested in furthering her career working in the veterinary field. In her free time you can find Amber hiking with her adorably wiggly golden retriever Eleanor, or training for various aerial arts shows.
